The Friends

WHO WE ARE

The Friends of Hailes Church was originally set up in 2000 by local residents with the chief purpose of raising funds for the restoration of the internationally important late 13th- and early 14th-century medieval wall paintings. Annual fund-raising events were held up until 2019, when these lapsed.

In 2024 the Friends has been revived and given a new, more formal organisational structure and, for the first time, people have been invited to become subscribing members,

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Hailes has only a tiny population today and has almost no parochial income of its own.

Our aims and objectives are the protection of the church’s internationally renowned wall paintings, and the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of the church’s fabric and fittings and its churchyard, by providing financial and other support to the parish through the Friends’ fund-raising activities, membership subscriptions and donations.

Since the Friends’ revival in 2024, new efforts are being made to raise more money and we are actively working with the parish to help identify and fund essential projects. For more detailed information, click here
